Hello there,
and thank you for visiting my portfolio site. My name is Erik Polasek and I am a Senior 3D Artist, designer and photographer very dedicated to my craft and focused on delivering pretty pixels on time and on budget.
As a 3D artist I have a great eye for detail. Because a lot of my time is spent trying to emulate reality I also spend a large sum of my time studying the real world, when not in front of a computer. I am well versed in many tricks and techniques of the computer graphics industry and you can find a list of my software capabilities in my resume. Every piece of software to me is a tool, I am a critical thinker and problem solver and whenever I am assigned a job I do it in the most efficient way possible whilst avoiding potential obstacles.
I like to follow the principles and elements of design and use them in conjunction with one another to create interesting and intriguing compositions, 3D art and digital renders.
I have the ability to take an 3D asset from start to finish. I do any necessary
modeling and sculpting work followed by a thorough texture job using a physically based material workflow and later a well lit and rendered composition in the most suitable engine for the job.
I strongly believe in the power of a GPU and utilize it very heavily throughout my work for instant feedback whether I am working in a real-time application like Unreal Engine or an offline GPU powered render engine such as Redshift, Vray RT or Octane. I love to broaden my horizons and I believe knowledge is the most powerful tool that a human can posses. When not at work I spent countless hours researching the latest and greatest in computer graphics and developing workflows to speed up my content creation process while maintaining a strong focus on design and beauty.
Design to me is more than just the way something looks it's also the way something makes you feel. As a photographer I paint with light and evoke emotion through the use of light. I take that same philosophy and apply it to my digital works.
I understand light and its complex interactions with the world around us. Every material will react differently and as a well versed look development artist and lighter I make sure that my surfaces react in the most realistic
way possible when trying to emulate real life scenarios.
I love to learn and more importantly I love to teach and inspire other people around me the same way that I have been inspired by them.
I am a quick learner and very passionate about my work.
Feel free to get in touch with me via email, phone or Linkedin.
